The tour

This hiking trail takes you along the Suonen (water conduits) between Eggerberg and Ausserberg through the typical rock steppe of the inner alpine southern slope of the Valais. There’s lots for you to discover. That includes the stunning Mediterranean fauna and flora of the rock steppe, the importance of „Maria Hilf“ as a place of prayer, but also the traditional Suonen, or water conduits, of Gorperi and Niwärch. It was only thanks to these impressively built Suonen that farming became possible here in the first place.

Alternative Route

The hike can be shortened by hiking along d’Unndra back to Ausserberg

Meals

Lots of restaurants in the villages of Eggerberg and Ausserberg. There are no refreshment points or places to eat en route.
