The tour

The start of the hike is all about the turquoise waters of the Oeschinen mountain lake, surrounded by the three thousand metre peaks of the Doldenhorn, Fründenhorn, Oeschinenhorn and Blüemlisalphorn. The trail leads to Oberbärgli and from there across steep rock-face steps to Underbärgli. The trail winding its way beneath projecting rock formations takes you down to the Oeschinen lake, which was originally formed by a rockfall. It continues by following the Öschibach stream, past waterfalls, to Kandersteg.

Alternative Route

From the Oeschinensee station directly to the lake and back to Kandersteg; Ascent on foot from Kandersteg to the Oeschinensee station via Röstiweid or „I de Huble“; Approach via Hohtürli from the Kiental valley. Overnight stay at the Blüemlisalp hut recommended (challenging mountain hike).

Meals

En route: restaurants at the Oeschinensee station, in Ober- and Underbärgli, and at the Oeschinen lake; Plenty of restaurants, etc., in Kandersteg
