Witch’s cauldron – a Piece of Art of Nature

The witch’s cauldron is a pothole which was grinded by the Gamchi river with its sand and mud carried along. Once a round hollow emerged, the cyclone motion of water has been even reinforced. This process takes centuries to millennia, depending on the hardness of the rock. So there were no magical powers of a witch in the game. The rather soft limestone of the Gries gorge contains many small and large potholes. On the Wildwater trail the witch’s cauldron can be admired nearby.
