Hamlet Bitschji

The particular location in a depression makes the hamlet Britschji to one of the most attractive hamlets on the Naters’ mountain. Although the Bitschji is not mentioned in the official lists of the burnt hamlets, but three evidences indicate that also this hamlet fell victim to the Frenchmen: the reuse of the scorched timbers, statements of local residents and the fact that no construction dated before 1800's. The apiculture Zenhäusern at the Lake Bitschji (also called birch lake) is one of the largest in Switzerland and is considered a pioneer business of the modern pollen apiculture.
