A narrative by Kaplan Benjamin Bammatter tells about the construction of the chapel in Trämel in 1902. He vowed after his fall into a crevasse east of Hohstock, to build a chapel in Trämel in case of his rescue. He succeeded finally, to free himself from the awkward situation and put his promise immediately into practice. The chapel became the destination of many pilgrims. Therefore a covered shelter was built beneath. The peculiar altarpiece represents the poor souls in the red sea of flames in the purgatory, who will receive relief thanks to a Sacrifice, prayers and the intercession of Our Lady.
