Last Witness of the Ice Age in the Aletsch Forest

The Aletsch forest harbors beside the exceptionally diverse flora and fauna some more natural wonders. The moraine rampart from the late Ice Age, which was deposited laterally by the Great Aletsch glacier around 12.400 years ago, is very well preserved. At that time the front of the Great Aletsch glacier reached Naters. If you follow the path from Riederfurka which runs on and aside this witness of the Ice Age ("Moränenweg"), you enjoy a magnificent view of the Great Aletsch glacier. Help us to preserve this extraordinary nature reserve and walk only on the signed paths.
