Heath spotted Orchid

In the Gastern valley exists a high diversity of the flora, including rare species legally protected at federal or cantonal level. Among them there are two species of orchids that can be discovered with some luck directly on the edge of the path: the lady's-slipper and the heath spotted orchid. As the name “spotted orchid” suggests, the pink to purple colored flowers as well as the leaves are spotted. The orchid grows preferably on granitic subsoil.
